I have question to all . What kind of miles per gallon can I expect from a 30foot with 454 vortex motor? At present time we own a 1985 Sovereign and tow it with a 350 Vortex Chev. I ger anout 12 miles per gallon.
Is there anything I schould on the look out for?

8 would be great
7 might be obtainable
6 is realistic and probable
5 is the lower end
4 the lowest I experienced.

I'm anal about logging each and every gallon of gas - on all of the vehicles.

Anyone claiming 10 or 12 consistently on a 454 motor home either does not know how to fill the tank every time or doesn't know how to run a computer.

There have been reports here of 8.5 mpg's, but I'm pretty sure that was all at 50 to 55 miles per hour.

I get 6 to 7 (8 once or twice) at 55 to 60 mph.

I have been getting 7-8 and ocassionally 9 on my 28 footer. I have gotten 7 with the gen set running and towing my Saturn. I think also having the carb clean and tuned helps, and the ignition parts in good shape. and I use a dare I say it ...a "Tornado" air manager over the carb...yes I know many are sceptical but I still stand on feeling and seeing some positive gains since I have used this, about two yrs now. Sure Sam Memollo (sp) gets ads for it on his show, but he heavily endorses it also. Ok please gents lets not start the arguments...
