It has nothing to do with the iPad. In my case it was a limit set on my account when I signed up. Unfortunately the app isn't smart enough to tell you that you have to upgrade your account t for unlimited image uploading . I went to my browser on my computer and logged on there and discovered that if I paid $20 a year that would upgrade my account and allow me to upload to my hearts content. I paid the $20 and that beta toy solved my issue

I've gone the upgrade route for a number of years now. The amount of tips, tricks, advice and help that I get from the members of this forum more than offset the $20 a year that it costs.
For me it's a worthwhile investment

This is an Apple vs. Rest of the World issue.
Standard digicams use one standard to record which end is up when you take a photograph. Any non-Apple software (and even Safari I venture) understands that orientation info and your email recipients see upright images in their inbox, photos display properly on the forum or any other image-displaying software and internet venues.
iPhone & iPad image orientation data is very proprietary, unique and read weirdly by email programs and website software. Best way to compensate for this: Hold your iDevice vertically with the camera at top, then rotate counterclockwise so that the 3 o'clock long edge of your device is at the top -- now snap your picture. This will produce an image that will display horizontally and always properly oriented in emails to your non-Apple friends/family and on websites everywhere.
Where it gets weird: Compose your iPicture vertically and it will display sideways to non-Apple email recipients and websites. Indeed, start with that vertical orientation and rotate your device clockwise before snapping your picture (9 o'clock edge up), and your non-Apple email recipients and most websites will display the image upside down.
I can fix sideways or upside down iDevice pics if I edit them in my PC first -- kinda defeats the purpose. Apple wizards -- is there any Apple method/software to fix the orientation issue for the heathen world?

My experience as a long time Apple user (since 1989), was to reduce the image size with Photoshop and then resend them to the forum and they displayed properly. Nearly all monitors will display at 72 dpi, so higher resolutions are not much use and the 3" x 5" image size is appropriate for a forum page.
Also the 4 to 5 Mbyte image size from the camera gets reduced to a more reasonable size and uploads quicker.
