Interstate Grand Tour
Looking to buy an Interstate this year (sooner than later). I was at a dealer here in Wisconsin, and the salesman showed me pics on his phone of the new "Grand Tour" model... Looks really nice. Sit has a bigger counter top with a swivel tv so you can watch it from outside.
Does anyone have more info on this? What different floor plans do they have for this model?

This is first I've heard about it. But I checked Colonial Airstream and they have two listed as inbound. It's a 2015 model.

I did a little more searching and found this photo. Looks like a new floor plan that is flipped side to side from current Interstates. I'd say Airstream is trying hard stay with their completion.

Info came out about 2 1/2 weeks ago right after Airstreams Dealer meeting. Flipped the Floor plan around, larger refrigerator but only 2 front seats. If that works for you, then seems like a good alternative to the Interstate. Oh and MSRP is around $162,000.

Beautiful!
I see 23.1 feet and 24 feet for the Extended version, as opposed to our 22'. I wonder how parking these works out,
The newer models lean toward luxury, limousine travel, it looks like.
Must be what people want.

The dealer gave me a quote for 126k... Need to do some thinking.

Interesting to see that they have finally made some sense to the layout. Its nice to work in the kitchen and look at the campsite rather than looking at your neighbors. And a bigger fridge too. Now if they would only use the double, split-in-the-middle bathroom door like just about everyone else uses. And put some "real high-density" foam in the seat cushions for better sitting and sleeping. But the high-density is much more expensive.
To answer "doug & maggie" the extended version parks nice in town. You just need to allow an end either at the beginning or end of the block. We've enjoyed parking right on city streets with our 24.4' long version. Now we're carrying bicycles on the back and have to allow for it unless we unload them at a campground. But its doable.
And once you have the extended version, eliminated the flip-down funky cushions that came with ours and the miniature 1" hinges, you've got lots of room in the back. No need for an external pod hanging on the back. I could, if I wanted to, haul the 2 bikes in the back. We chose not to opting for storage which we made accessible from the rear doors only with a bulkhead and shelf facing the inside of the RV.

I couldn't agree with you more Bikerbill on the layout... It did seem odd how the prior model year had the galley facing the opposite side of the awning... That was one of the first things I noticed. I haven't seen exterior photos yet, so I wonder if the external shower is on the camp side as well. That would actually be really nice to have access to a water spigot while your camping. I keep you guys posted if I get new pics.

There's also another nice option... Side and rear screen doors. The dealer said it was a 1000 more. Seems like Airstream is really trying to set themselves apart. All the options of the cheaper competitors like Leisure Travel and Roadtrek, but with the nice finishes. I'm digging it!

Next they'll be adding more batteries, dropping the generator, larger inverter and adding the engine generator just like Advanced RV does. Maybe even adding more than 1-100 watt solar panel too.
Advanced has had the sliding side screen for 2 years now and they will retrofit other brand Class B's with sliding screen doors. Roadtrek says to stay away from sliding screen doors as all they have ever seen at RV shows are inoperative at the end of a 3-4 day RV show, so imagine how they will or will not last in personal use over a couple of years?
And if the price is up over $150K now they are approaching Advanced which usually runs in the $160K, but they are all custom made, individually and not mass produced.

I wonder who makes the larger refrigerator/freezer shown in the picture. It does not look like a Nova Kool which they have used previously in a much smaller size.
