Ineffective headlights. Any Options?
I am wondering if anyone else has had a problem with the headlight reflector corroding on a Classic MH.
One of my headlights, a side by side type, is corroded and dirty inside the reflector area. End result, even with new bulbs, it does not produce any useable light on the road ahead.
Anyone know of a replacement headlight unit for a 95 Classic MH? Airstream wants $700 for a replacement unit.

Ouch!!! Have you checked to see if any GM products are similar? Is yours on a GM chasis?

We have some MoHo specialists on the forums, that would surely love to help you.But you would have to post specifics and pics. What size is your MoHo, which chassis, etc.

I'd try taking it apart and over to a local plating shop. They can clean and replate it a lot cheaper...and it should work well.

A quick and easy fix (but one that does not address the corrosion problem) is to line the reflector with aluminum foil, shiny side out. If you want to correct the problem, the above suggestions are great.

Welcome to the forums. I am happy to find a fellow classic owner so close to me. After 25 years there was considerable pitting and dulling on the reflectors of Chummy's head lights. I simply gave them a good cleaning with rubbing compound then waxed them. May not be as good as new but we can see where we are going at night. One other thing is that I found there is quite a difference in headlights. The big box stores do have a good price on them but they don't seem to be as bright as the ones I buy from my local NAPA store. True they cost more but I feel they are worth the extra money.

My unit is a Gas 1995 36' Classic Motorhome on a P-30 chasis. I will try to post a photo of the MH in my profile. It is similar to the Chaplains unit, but my headlight assembly is side by side, rather than over and under.
I did find a replacement assembly on line for $375, better than $700, but still not what I would like to pay.
Keep the ideas coming, and thanks again for helping out.

Harry, yours is one of the last of the "Classic" AS Moho's produced with a gas chassis.
I'm certain there are some inexpensive, relative to your wallet, replacement headlights that will resolve the problem. Headlights aren't rocket science.
BTW very nice looking rig indeed!

Howdy everyone! I have a '95 Classic Pusher 36 and am wondering if anyone ever found a good solution to the corrosion issue? Also, does anyone know how the bulbs are replaced? The previous (and origonal) owner had a solar power system installed and there are several batteries and other electronics located under the hood where access should be?
