Fan-tastic Vents and Maxx-air Covers

What's the word on using the Maxx-air covers over Fan-tastic vents? Fan-tastic says not to. I have two of the new Maxx-air II covers and should I or should I not use them?

Fan-tastic has a their own version of the Maxx-air covers, you might want to check them out, as it does look like they are more efficient.

I had a fan-tastic basic fan installed with Maxx-air cover placed over it. I do not worry when we leave the vent open and fan on. Our FF does not have a sensor on it to close with wind or rain. With the three various roof vents on the the Unit, it actually make the Airstream look balanced.

A few years back, we had just a vent cover, and due to the extreme weather while it was in storage, the cover completely desinegrated and the carpet got soaked. I will never make that mistake again as we did not get to the Unit for about two months.

It was a nice surprise with frozen water all over the rear part of the coach.

I have a Maxxair cover on one of my fantastic fans and it works just fine. Plus you can leave the vent open during a rain storm.

I didn't like the Fantastic covers. Flimsy material, no bug screen, and no silver color. The Maxx-Air II (I think that's what it's called) has a bigger opening area and does move more air than the original, comes in silver, has stainless hardware which is quick opening for cleaning, and is more sturdy.
I am happy with them.

We have installed 2 Maxx-air vents and are very happy with them. No worries when they're open in the rain.
We have used Maxx-air vents in SOB trailers previously. Our son installed a Maxx-air cover over their bathroom vent. It works well but doesn't move as much air as the Maxx-air vents do.

Thanks everyone! It's strange that Fantastic states not to use the Maxxair covers but then they have their own cover that they recommend. The covers from both companies that are made for the fan vents really don't seem to be so different from the "standard" covers. Just seems to be some marketing BS going on by both companies. I already have two of the new Maxxair II covers but they need about 5.5 inches of clearance at the backside (screened side). I only have 3.5 inches between the rear of the vent and the old TV antenna. So I may just use the covers on my ATV trailer. Maybe I should just remove the old antenna though.

Your second sentence explains itself why they don't recommend Maxxair. I have 3 Maxxairs over FF on my overlander and have never gotten a drop of rain inside. I leave the FF cover open all the time to prevent the trailer from becoming an oven during the day.

I have them over two FFs, no problems.
