Duo-therm heater

We purchased our first MH in July. 2005 Airstream LY 30' gas. We Plan to retire soon and do some traveling. Being avid campers for over forty years, we decided to try a mh. So far we are very pleased with our Airstream and look forward to hitting the road very soon.
Our ac units have the heating element option which I wanted to use to take the chill off but I must be doing something wrong. The ac unit is working fine but the heat elements wont come on. Wound up using the furnace.

Hi Harold,

If you have a Dometic Comfort Control thermostat, it should be placed in the 'electric heat' setting to activate the heat strips in the air conditioner units. If you do not have this type of t/stat, then there should be a 'heat' position on the elector switch on the unit's faceplate. Remember that the heat strips don't put out much heat!

If nothing works, the heat strips might not be plugged in to the unit on the inside, or the dip switches might be in the wrong position. Either one of these requires opening the unit and getting inside. If you are still under warranty, (3 year from Dometic) you will void the warranty if you do this yourself.

Take it to a Dometic warranty repair center if you need this work done.....it should be free!
