Welcome to the forums and congradulations on your "new" LY. First off, you'll need to repair the leak in the window which caused the delam. Then I would recommend researching RV delamination on Google. There are a number of sites about repairing this damage, even a video with step by step repair procedures.

Many of us MoHo owners on the forum are driving the aluminum "classics" and delamination is not something we deal with. Perhaps there are some LY owners who can shed some light on this one.

Fiberglass delamination is usually caused by water getting into the fiber, such as a unsealed window cutout. The fiber will wick water through capillary action. The first thing you need to do is find out how the water is getting past the window frame and seal. Once you figured out the how and why now the fix. You will have to remove the window, and dry the area out. If you can garage the unit keep it warm for awhile and check for moisture. You also can use a heat gun and drive the moisture out. You have to be really sure it is dry be for you Begin the repair. You will have to grind out all of the delaminated material, then dry it out again. You will then have to fill the area with glass mat and resin. You will have to sand and level your repair. Prime and repaint. Quite a job if you haven't done it be for and you'll need a lot of spacial tools.
That is the general process for this type of problem.
I would suggest that you find where the water got into the fiberglass, then find a good body shop to do the repair work and paint. After they repair the spot make sure the leak is sealed.

fiberglas repair

Hi!
That advice seems like right on the button. Getting it dry may be a challenge in N. Ohio at this time of year. I hope you have someplace inside.
Welcome to the Forums. We live in LaGrange which is not too far away from you. We have started having some Ohio "mini" rallies this past Fall. We hope that you can join us all on one of them. If you need a place to camp that is not too far from home to check out your new unit, feel free to come on over and visit us!! Would be great to see you. Let us know if you would be interested in camping with other OHio Airstreamers. Our little get togethers are very informal.

Larry

The whole delamination thing is going to done by a body shop,
I want to take it back to the factory for there quote. We shall see.
We are new to the RV thing let alone the AS thing, I think this would be too much of a first project.
Anyway Larry:
Where do you go on these rallies ?
Rob

Hi, Rob!
We have had several little rallies. Our best attended was at Alum Creek State Park this past Oct. We had 5 units, and some visitors that stopped by to see us. We spent the weekend around a nice campfire and did community cooking over the open fire. Lots of fun. We wanted to try to get to Hocking Hills but it was booked solid and we had to pick an alternative site. We have been to Clare-Mar with 3 units, and we even had a really small rally in our driveway with the Ottos on their first trip out with a "new to them" Caravel on its maiden voyage, and visits from ctdair family. We are hoping to start earlier in the year in 2007 and get a bunch of spots picked out to visit. Alot of us can't make every trip every time, but even a few at a time is great fun! There are lots of Ohioans on here!
