Yep, I was thinking that they do look familure too.

There may be other sources for our windshields out there to be found yet.

Thanks for encouragement , glad to know that others find these old rigs interesting too.

Somewhere resently I saw some pics from a motorhome museum.
Anyone know more about this museum somewhere here in the states?

Cheers Richard

Thanks for those links Peter, both look very worthwhile. With very interesting collections and nice displays.

They will go on my list of places to visit.

I would have to lower my eyes at the Texas place. Motorcycles are calling to me lately. This after swearing off of riding years ago.
Is it possible to have a midlife crisis in your late 60s? 😅

Cheers Richard

Seeing all the odd ball motorhomes brings back memories of my first. It was a Gerstenslager Bookmobile on a International chassis. I dont recall its year but I think it was early 70's?
The bookmobile belonged to our county library and one of the county mechanics bought it and took a wrecked motorhome, gutted the bookmobile and with the innards of the wreck, built a nice motorhome complete with full bathroom and queensize bedroom in the back.
I dont have any interior photos, but I have a few from a Woodstock festival in 99.
The original bookmobile used electric heat so it had a huge 4 cylinder 10KW generator in the back and when the festival sound system blew the transformer on the power pole we hooked the Bookmobile generator to the stage power and we could run sound & lights (at reduced levels) until the power company replaced the transformer.
I owned that one for 2 years when I found my YeloSub, a 1977 20' Argosy (In a earlier post in this thread)
The Bookmobile ended up in the hands of a friend who parked it in his yard with anticipation of restoring it but unfortunately 15 years later it just sites there rotting into the ground.

I guess it's not exactly a motorhome, but it's definitely unusual:

Hi. Went up to Kingman Az yesterday to check a big car show, that is part of a Route 66 rally.
It brought out a very eclectic range of car, trucks, and vintage campers/ motorhomes.

As I was driving into town i notices a bunch of Corvair Ultravans behind me. So I quickly stopped and got some video of them driving by.

At the end of the line was another unusual coach called a Tiara, built around 1970. Using a tornado engine and front wheel drive.

This and the ultravans were a bit more simple inside than our airstream coaches, and it was really nice to be invited aboard for a look see.

Some restoration ideas

The old 350LE is getting a little worn inside and I'm thinking it's time for a "do over" My interior design friend has come-up with this suggestion. Is tis too much do you think?

Well it didn't take long....

You can get a set of retro Type H panels to fit a current model Citroen Relay van, and now it is available as a camper.

Interesting design. It actually doesn't look all that bad.

Yep, I like it too. Nice retro throwback to their early 80s vans.

Nice rig for getting to those out there boondocking locations.

Amazing; only Citroen can stick headlamps and wheels on a industrial dumpster, and make it look cool.

Cheers
