Argosy / Classic Front turn signal lights
Ok, I give up. I'm usually pretty good at finding a part when needed but I've reached a point in my search for a replacement front turn signal light where I'm ready to give up and throw my hands in the air!
The light in the pictures below is the right front turn signal light for my Argosy. I think the Argosies and Classics share the same light assembly. I need to replace the left front light assembly and can't find anything that matches it. A 67 to 68 Chevy pickup turn light looks similar but the lens does have a slightly different shape and I think it's larger overall.
Have any of you Argosy or Classic motorhome owners ever sourced a replacement light and if so do you have a part number or a place to order from?!
Thanks!
Brad

I finally got lucky and got a hit on google!
The light assemblies are GM # 916558 and they are....obsolete, imagine that
Searching google with the 916558 number I found a pair still in the original GM box. They weren't cheap but there aren't exactly a lot of alternatives out there so I guess it could have been worse. And I now have a spare light assembly

While you were posting your reply I had just found a NOS pair and bought them. Fortunately I didn't spend too much more than what these sell for.

Wayne, I believe that is correct. From what I remember I think all of the Argosies and Classics up to at least 89 or so used the same front turn lights.

I got replacement lenses from one of the Chevy Truck catalogs. Once it's day light, I'll get out there and see where they came from. Believe they also sold the whole light unit as well. I bought LED light pads and glued them onto the new lenses though.

Derek,
After much searching yesterday morning I stumbled across a pair of NOS light assemblies and decided to buy them. Then Martin and now you pointed out there are reproductions that work just as well. If I hadn't found the NOS units I would have gone with reproductions. I'm just happy the lights are still available!
Thanks!
Brad

For my 1977 Argosy, I purchased 1967 Chevy Truck Park/signal lamp assemblies and they fit just like the originals.

LED turn signals
Anyone know a way to convert one of these from bulb to LED? I found the kit to do the Argosy rear lights but no luck on fronts.

I used these 1157 LED Amber bulbs on my 75 Argosy and Peanut which is a 77 Argosy. These bulbs should work for all of the Argosy and Classic series motorhomes.

I tried to switch the turn signal bulbs on my 79 classic to LED and found that there was not enough resistance in the LED bulbs to make the flasher work. I ended up putting the standard bulb back in .
All of my running lights have been converted to LED so the majority of the current draw was eliminated but , the turn signals work as originally designed.

Greg,
I replaced the turn and hazard flashers with two of these flashers from Amazon.
They work great.
