Anyone up to the challenge?

There is a 1987 345 on ebay that someone might be interested in. It has NO interior! If you're dying to have a custom interior or if you're just some kind of masocist it looks like an interesting opportunity. It would make a great mobile business( are you listening Glen) and so far the bidding is at less than $5000. My wife would kill me if I brought it home but I'm sure it would fit nicely in someones life.

Thanks but way too long for a daily driver. If I went any longer I'd have to stop at the single rear axle 31'. I just fit into normal parking spots now with my tail hanging over the grass or what have you.... I always back in.
I'd love to be able to start a coach from that vantage point though as the Classic coaches in my opinion left a lot to be desired when it comes to insulation, wiring, and HVAC systems.
Could be an interesting project for sure.
eBay Motors: 1987 Airstream 345 Classic (item 290070623416 end time Jan-20-07 10:55:40 PST)
No reserve and just 8 more days to go.

Neat project....I was looking at the one in Alaska...diesel too. Nice unit, far, far away and a bad time of year to pick it up and drive it back to the mainland......

Yea, my Brother-in-law is up in Anchorage and a diesel would be nice, but we're not heading up there till late in the summer this year. Looks like a nice unit too.

Currently seems like a great price too at 19k. If it were closer, I migh consider it. I does look like a heck of a MoHo!

Did you really have to show me that? This is too tempting....

About six months ago I bought a couple of the interior pieces off of this seller through ebay I live about a hour away and picked them up. He was just starting replacing the floor in it when I was there. I walked leisurely through it at it seemed like he was doing a good job but I wasn't really looking like i would if I was buying it. The interior cabinets I bought were nice units.

The thing that would worry me about that challenge on EBAy is ...if it was so trashed before, every mechanical thing on it would probably have been abused some way . Also all the stuff you would need to resotre the interior could be a bank buster.

Almost long enough to be a bowling alley as is! Allan is right about systems and drive train. I'd be looking very close before the auction ended if I was buying.
