Airstream Motorhomes in History or in the Media

Hi guys, I thought I'd start a thread for Airstream motorhome sightings in history or in movies and television.

I'll start out. Today is the sad 30th anniversary of the Challenger mission explosion.

I remember I was in high school back then and we all sat around the cafeteria to watch the exciting liftoff. Sadly it quickly ended in tragedy live, right in front of our eyes.

But before the brave crew got on the space shuttle, they were brought out to the launchpad in NASA's Airstream motorhome, dubbed, the "Astrovan".

Tap this is a great thread but sorry to tell you there are already two or more threads like this. But that doesn't mean there can't be another, just letting you know.

We were watching the Mentalist two years ago this March. The main character, Patrick Jane, was driving a motor home with the coolest interior. Curiosity piqued, I started paying closer attention to the show than whatever I was working on with the laptop. The shot changed to the exterior, and low and behold, it was a shiny Airstream Moho. We did not even know they existed. While we had discussed upgrading from our aging Class A to a diesel pusher at retirement, we sure didn't know what we wanted. Within an hour after seeing the Airstream Moho on television, I had found one in Texas for sale. Long story short, we are the proud owners of a 1994 360 Classic Diesel Pusher. Two years later, I still don't regret the most expensive impulse purchase of my life.

Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen were in a movie about a married couple having issues, who get stuck in New England in a snowstorm in an Airstream 280. Don't remember the name yet,,but I have it on VHS around here somewhere.

Gosh, I hope the production crew didn't cut up the MoHo to get the interior shots! That has ruined a few Airstream trailers. Leland

I really don't know much about the MH, 2 ladies pulled into my park one night with it, they said it had been just restored and they where on their maiden voyage with it, unfortunately I did not get a chance to talk with the ladies more then a few minutes.

I really want to see that movie so that I can see the AS MH in it, but because it's an old, cheesy, CBS TV movie, I can't find it anywhere.

I just watched the thrilling movie Rush, the story of James Hunt and Niki Lauda. Just awesome...!!
Despite the fact that it is supposed to be the 1976 Grand prix season, you can see hints of an mid 80's Airstream Motorhome with the wooden decal and the door opening towards the rear (trailers mostly have suicide doors). I seems to be Niki Lauda's Rig and there is some interior footage at 1 point.
