6v & 12v

I recently purchased a 1965 Caravel which I would like to tow with my restored 1940 GMC. The Caravel is 12 volt and my pickup is 6 volt. Does anyone have knowledge of this issue and how to make it work?

The only practical way to do it that I am aware of is to change the GMC over to 12 volts.

Have you considered converting the truck to 12 volts? You will have to swap all the light bulbs, head lights included. Maybe installing a load resister for the radio if you want to keep the original.

The starter should work.

A series of relays that close with 6 volts and allow the 12v item to be energized would be the over the top way to go. Forget about charging the trailer battery on going down the road. The wires aren't heavy enough anyway.
