Question 1998 Class B needs new water tank

Driving down the highway and a scraping sound alerts me to stop and lo and behold the water tank is half off and dragging! A good samaritan re-attached with a strap but now am at a loss as how to replace with huge financial investment. Help, please?!

1998 Class B needs new water tank

It must be a B-190 based on Ford van as they was all Airstream made in 1998. The hangers for the tank probably rusted away. Does the tank still hold water without leaks. If so just get the tank hangers replaced. That shouldnít be too costly. If the tank has a hole and leaks it can also be repaired. Any decent RV repair shop should be able to do it.

Edit: confirmed itís a 190 in OPs profile.

Am to to posting so not sure you got my thanks, but... reply. The tank is ruined. It is a metal box with plastic lining that is strapped under the vehicle near the waste tank. I need a totally new tank. Now what?! Junkyard/salvage only answer?

Shot in the dark here. Try airstream factory, they may have nos, would be a miracle but possible. Also try some dealers, you never know what they may have hudden away.

I would start with calling RV repair places near you, and see what they have to say.

There may be something ready made you can use, or something that can be altered/modified to fit.

You donít say where you are currently, which may help folks here assist with problem solving.

Good luck,

Maggie

Also don't forget that the B class of that vintage was also sold by other manufacturers that may also use the very same tank, so don't just limit your search to Airstream.

Coachman, Okanagan, Chinook built them, just to name a couple, with a quick Google search you should come across a whole bunch, and then if you go into their layout you should come across a few that have the same, or almost the same interior layout as your own, so the tanks maybe the same; go from there. At least you won't have to pay an "Airstream" price.

Cheers
