1989 345 Diesel?

This link was sent to me. I have never heard of a Cummins engine being a factory option. I have heard of a replacement.

1989 345 Diesel

NADA does not list it as an option but with the limited quanities of these units, anything is possible. Thoughts?

I guess for 14,000 they would have put a Diesel puller in it.
Th 12mpg versus the 8-9 we get with a 454 gas, it would take a lot of miles to eat up that money. I do enjoy seeing the variations on the theme though....

That is about the time that diesels (other than Detroit 2 strokes) were migrating to the smaller trucks. GM installed a lot of Cummins and Caterpillar, they had a reputation in the trucking industry. Could have been a special order by a customer (trucking company owner/executive, those guys did a lot of that kind of stuff) or an experiment by Airstream.

345 cummins for sale in Houston

I looked at that particular unit prior to purchasing my '87.

The only word that comes to mind to describe it is "pristine".

The Allison shifted smoothly, both in straight auto and driver select. The intercooler and turbo were both tucked up next to the engine. Really a well engineered package.

It truely is as close to showroom new as any motor home that I have seen that is anywhere close to it's age bracket.

The blue trim highlighting the aluminum stood out, I've yet to see a paint job like it..

Performance was not noticeably different from a gas model, but the clatter coming from the engine compartment during cruise was incredible. Much louder than my gas model. The noise factor is a definite negative that needs to be weighed by anyone contemplating a front engine conversion from gas to diesel.

But I have to admit, that particular unit sure was nice.

Michigan Indoor Storage

Anyone out there interested in secure indoor storage in mid Michigan? We have a steel building with electric and lighting. 12' doors and 13' ceilings. Building is 40' x 120'. Located in Perrinton, MI which is 30 miles north of Lansing. Our small town offers a auto parts store, hardware, and places to eat. Pricing will be based on size of RV. Location is just minutes west of US 27. Our phone number is 989-236-5665. We own a construction business as well so don't be surprised by the answer on the phone. Ask for Bob or Brian.
