1988 325 Motor Home

I recently purchased a 1988 325 in great shape. The interior is almost like new. The question I have is I plan to turn this into a bike rental and sales space. I plan to pretty much strip all but the kitchen and bath out. I've put these interior parts up for sale on Craigs list, and have a couple of interested parties. It's a orignal wood based cabinets, walls, etc. Grey chairs, Blue couch, etc. All in great shape as this 325 has less than 20K miles on it so it's been very little used.

The issue I have is I have no idea what this is worth. What is a pretty much perfect original interior of a 1988 325 MH worth?

Thanks for any input.

Robert

I would take it out and put it in storage for the day you wish you had all those parts.

Thanks

I thought about that at first. But I really don't want to pay for storage as I have no place to store it. And, while it's in almost perfect shape it's not really in a style that I like. I prefer a more mid-century look. So, when or if I convert back to a living space I would redo more to my taste.

Cheers

Anyone know of sites with $

I've not been able to find any sites yet with prices for the interior cabinets, etc.

I can find sites with the small parts but noe so far with the full cabinet, walls, bed, etc.

I have a few interested buyers but I still have no idea of what to ask for. Is this worth $3,000 or $10,000?

Buyers will tell you what they are willing to pay.
For example, I have seen a couch in real leather going for 300-600, but thats leather in good condition. Yours appears to be fabric that was redone.
You are way way above market

Yea,

So, Give me a bit more help here. Overpriced - I don't think so. What is the price for what? I've not set a price for items, so how can I be overpriced to market when I've not set a price for the couch?

@OP

I think the interior is at least worth $8,000 but would ask $10,000 which would give you some wiggle room. I would also sell the appliances for at least another $5,000 considering the rarity. The 12v univolt commands a premium as it is bigger and sturdier than new modern 12v converters. The end caps if not cracked or off coloured in anyway are worth huge dollars as they are "unobtanium"

Redoing these old coaches is child's play which any novice can complete in a couple of weeks; just remember to use flexible grout on the ceramic tile.

Cheers

Ok. Let's see, in my 345. Leaving the toilet and galley in place, as you mentioned,
Would leave the

Dinette $4/500, $250 more if cushions and upolstery are nice.

Overhead lockers $100/150 per set. 4 sets

Living room set, couch, barrel chairs, side table $1/3500 depending on condition and upholstery. Lots of these get tossed as being uncomfortable/ funky

Shower enclosure and hanging locker $6/700

Clothes locker aft of head. $300

Bed framing $250

Not sure of your layout.
These are just starting numbers from the top of my head to get the conversation going in the direction you want.

I'm interested in other's thoughts on valuations.

Cheers Richard

The cool thing to do is.....
offer the parts gratis to other MH owners who are restoring their motorhomes. Its a win win! You become a hero in our community, you have zero ongoing storage issues, and all those in need of parts get parts. Sharing the love has huge benefits!

Salvation

OK, after much discussion with other folks, I'm not selling any interior or other parts. I will carefully take them out, store them and then when I actually resell this classic they will be put back in.

Should work, and perhaps provide the most value in re-sale.

Cheers,

Robert

For your own sanity, take lots of detailed pictures of the disassembly process, label them accurately, and store them securely. If possible, bag all the fasteners and tape the associated bag to the removed part.

In a couple years, you may have trouble remembering what went where, and finding all the small parts. Don't ask why I know this issue so well...😄😄

Excellent choice for your approach to this coach, by the way. It gets you what you need, and preserves it for later.

Original stays original

Many of you will be happy to know I'm not going to take anything out of this 1988 Airstream 325. It's going to stay as is, but with exterior polish, interior cleaning and adding a new radio which is the only original missing part.

Any other needed work will be done to make this as good or better as new. Today new tires were put on, Tuesday I will finally see it.

It's being babied back from CA to TX via trailer.

I'm now actually looking to buy more of these, it's a Airsteam world and I'm happy to be a small part of it.

Glad to hear that you decided to keep it original.
What kind of tires did you get for the 325?

Robert:

Let's start again.

It's not about keeping it all original, as my interior certainly isn't; what irked people was your eagerness to throw something away that wasn't broken or didn't need to be throne away. We relish people that will make changes to their coaches if it means they keep rolling down the highway.

A lot of people that purchase these vintage coaches and trailers, do so, trying in some small part, to save some more of hunanities crap from ending up in the local landfill. They recognized that Airstream, being built differently, means that they're not purchasing anything new, everytime something breaks with the one they have. Ironically, my little way of saving the planet is to keep something old.

I'm personally glad you decided to continue with this coach's life story and hope she serves you faithfully for many years to come. If you require any help to facillitate that happening, by all means ask for it and people on this site will be willing to help.

Cheers
Tony

Sorry for the spelling and grammatical errors in my last post......It was sent very early in the morning and I didn't have my glasses on. Bad form what.

Robert

If you can stop putting the Double Coin tires on your coach I would. Many people have had balancing and wear problems with this Marque of tire.

Toyo M120z or Hankook AH-11 are a far better choice. It's just that a front tire blowout can be catastrophic in any motorhome and any tire blowing on a Classic coach can do more damage to the bodywork than a full set of Toyo/ Hankooks are worth.

Cheers
