Help - I broke my Wife's Bambi (emblem)

While polishing my wife's pride and joy 62 Bambi, I accidently caught the script Bambi emblem by the door. Does anybody know if you can get this replacement part anywhere.

Thanks
Tom

WOW......that's not good. Your wife probably feels bad and you have a bad emblem too. Did it break.....bend.....or? After we bought our 62 Bambi, I found our missing emblem in one of the kitchen drawers. After polishing the AS, I glued it on with a marine grade glue......it's been on for a few years and no problems. Good luck! I hope you will have as much fun with your Bambi, as we our having with ours. (pics. over on the left side, in the Profile, click on 8 images)

Yes the emblem broke in 2 pieces. We thought about gluing it back and will probably do so if we can't find a replacement.

Your Bambi looks great. We just got ours a few months ago and took a great trip this June in it. It is in major redo now. We are rebuilding the inside, going to remove the old furnace, replace the unworking refrigerator, and rebuild the cabinets back to the original. I have already put in a power converter, a regular water pump, and other items.

We are having fun with it.

Thanks for the advice and experience.

Hi Tom.....Does your Bambi have its bathroom on the curbside? (Ohio made).......or is it a (CA model) with the bath on the other side?

Hey Tom,
I broke mine too! It cracked in the middle when I was reinstalling it after polishing. Maybe we could have a couple of them recast, or just try the glue.

Hi Tom,
I just looked at the one on my 61 and it is broken between the A and M. To my knowledge, it has never been off the trailer. I suspect that the glue trick with some very careful rivet work will fix your problem.

I am looking for a 1961 Bambi Emblem. Someone took mine. Any ideas?

I am a close acquaintance of a gentleman who works for a local family owned construction firm with a laser cutting operation. I have often thought about having my wife (a graphic designer) recreate the Bambi script digitally and having some cut from aluminum from the file.

Would there be any interest in this prospect? I know it would not be cast like original...but it would also be more durable. My script is in fine shape, but I often worry about needing a spare in the future.

Thumbs up

Do the google on 3D printer, a shop may be able to come very close to the original.

Hi
Have you guys moved forward on the missing emblem project? I am a brand new member with a very big project ahead of me - 1964 Bambi II - and it is also missing its "Bambi II". She would look so nice with a new one! I would be happy to contribute to the search for an artist who could make some sort of reproduction.
Cheers,

Cheers,
I have not yet...no time with the little ones in our life now...but will keep you posted if/when I get to it.

Welcome to the Bambi II club!! I am in the midst of my restoration right now!

BTW- does anyone know the best way to remove the emblem without breaking it (ie. the clips inside that need to be removed?) Does one pry on them with a screwdriver from inside? I am thinking of removing my emblem for replating.

Ben

Hi All,
Well, I took matters into my own hands. I am relatively certain I have found a manufacturer who can make metal vehicle emblems - exact replicas of whatever we need. Would someone with a detached (but probably broken) Bambi emblem be willing to do a very precise tracing of the outline of the letters and then also record detailed measurements of the letters? I need this template to send to the company in order to get an estimate.

Thanks!
Bess

Bess-

Mine is off for trailer polishing. It is not broken. I will do a tracing and measurements. Please PM me your address so I can send it to you. Mine only says BAMBI- no II.

I am betting this will be EXPENSIVE!! I will still investigate the laser cutting option.

Ben
