Chrome Rear Bumper

Seems like I have seen photos of a 61-63 era Bambi with a chrome rear bumper.

I assume my rear bumper is stock, and is rather ulitaritain, grey painted steel. Does anybody know if it is still possible to get a chrome rear bumper on the after market?

You can get yours chromed. You can also buy a bumper that's chrome, and drill and bolt it onto your trailer, if you really want to.

Mine is just a square tube.

I will see if I can find the pic I saw, but IIRC, it was made of a kind of 1/2 circle material with a couple of bumperett's.

(done so much web surf'g can't remember what I saw where)

I'm looking for a new 60's bumper and I notice that VintageTrailerSupply has them in steel and aluminum, maybe you could polish the aluminum version? It must be a bit lighter..

Here is an example of the rear bumper I am looking for. Not to keen on the reflective tape though.

Anybody know where these bumpers can be found ?

The bumper that in your pictures is not a original stock bumper. Your bumper is welded on and part of the frame of the trailer, not to say that you couldn't torch it off and replace it with a flat bar of some kind welded on between the main frame supports and then bolt another chrome bumper on. Another option is to figure away to take your existing bumper off, get it chromed, and bolt it back on. I know the look you are going for! don't give up!
