Standard telephone type toner and tracer tool pair. Have a set I've used for years. Just make sure power is totally disconnected when I'm tracing out wiring.

Recommendation for DC amp clamp that will do milliamps on up to more sizable currents?

The one above seemingly does not do DC current but cheap enough to toss in for AC diagnosis perhaps.

Cut off the phone connector and adapt one of these shown in the above link?

I've done automotive electrics and electronics for years as well, seldom have needed wire tracing such as on a RV where several many systems were added by several many Tower of Babelist. About the worse automotive wise has been some of the Italian exotics where some several many wires will come out of a bulkhead all the same color and make ya go, WTH!!??

Motorcycles, pretty simple and a step gets you from one end to the other pretty much. Thanks for any input on these.

I bought this one it does DC clamp on current. It was recommended in another thread. Nice works well and pretty small making it easy to take on the road.

Thanks, I think I'll grab one of those and the similar unit that does frequency.
