Where's the air compressor on a 270 MH
I'll get a new member started off quickly. Tom's new-to-him 270 has a bad air compressor. It's not the fuse. The compressor itself died.
Can a 270 owner out there tell him where the rear air bag compressor is?
Any tips on where to find a new air compressor?

I use to be a heavy truck mechanic and got the oner to work on a few motor homes, dose it have air breaks if so it would be on the motor if not I dont have a clue not being able to look at it, but you can always crawl under and follow the air lines to the general area of compressor or talk to a service manager at a dealer. hope this can be of some help..

re aircompressor if you have air brakes on your rig its not a compressor problem its more than likely your suspension air ride self levaling valve, that would be located some where derrectly over your rear drive axle it wll have three air lines running to it and there will be a steel rod on a lever mounted to the valve then from there the rod mounts to the axle. if this is your case get ahod of me and I will explain how to check it...

I believe he is looking for the location of the electric air compressor that provides air for the suspension. On the 345 I have it is in a corner cupboard in the bedroom.
I presume he is looking for information on where it is in the smaller unit....

I can hear it in the cornor cupboard in the bedroom, but when I open the door, I can't see it. How does one access it?

compressor in my old air moho was in the generator compartment rear/curbside.
outside access, mounted just aft of the onan as i recall.
if the air compressor dies, one can still inflate rear bags. there is canister with a schrader valve stem down under and a regular tire inflation hose can be applied at this site.
of course my moho had lots of odd things, as do i.
cheers

David Thank you. We had a foot of snow today and the overnight low will be 8F. With your description in mind I will be out under the coach tomorrow morning. Regards Tom

Tom,
Welcome! You might consider looking at a replacement from harbor freight or even JCWhitney. Even on the 345's they are not very powerful units.

Jim, Don't know if you have a rear queen layout like mine, but there is a small shelf between the bed and the rear wall. There are a few screws holding it down. Under this panel you'll find the compressor and the water pump.

wanderingeye is the proud new owner of Exhibit "B":

His trip home was eventful but smooth in comparison to others! (ok, maybe smooth was a bad word to use when he had a leaky air bag suspension )

On my 310, it is located in the driver side aft compartment which also holds the reel for the 30 amp power cord.

Fred Profound thanks for the help you have given me. Exhibit B is safely in storage until spring. This a/s m/o is 80% of new and I intend on bringing it to 100% I'll have the ride leveling air pump out and rebuilt next week. Tom

Tom,
Nice motorhome! I have to say, those little 270 floorplans are really cool. I saw one at a forum rally once and thought it was brilliant.
