Sheesh! Not another thing I gotta buy!
I presume that means one pair per axle for all 3 axles on a 345? Would this be the correct model? $189 per pair.

Got a call from Centramatic today and they are willing to make a run for the front axle (and tag axle) if we take 10 pairs. Sets going to run somewhere under $200. I am thrilled.
Let me know soon if you want a pair or 2 if you have the tag?

I'll keep an eye on how this comes together Peter.
One on my tag axel is cracking just out side of where it mounts and could be replace if a big enough order doesn't come together otherwise.
Good on ya for making it happen.
Cheers Richard

Richard, i didn't know.you were running the centramatrics. You don't happen to have a picture of the Tag axle ones? According to some old docs, the tag axle is supposed to be the same as the steer axle, like a cup shape versus the disk shape on the drive axle. Anyway you can confirm this? I just want to be 100% certain
According to the rep, (who btw wants to come by and look at my Airstreams ) it will take around 6 weeks until we can take delivery.

The front wheels on my 345 do not have the centramatics , but the wheels do cup inward from the area where they bolt on the hub. So would require the cupping you mentioned for the centramatics to fit up front.

Both the outer wheel on the drive axel and the
Wheel on the tag axel look similar, dished slightly out ward.
Allowing the centramatics to fit in more a flat disc shape.

And the outer wheel on the drive axel. Also dished slightly out ward.
You can just glimps the centramatics behind this wheel.

Ok , thanks Richard.
I summarize from your pictures that the rear axle and the tag axle uses the same balancers, which are the 400-417.
These are readily available
Wheel Balancer 400-417 from Centramatic
The front axle (400-406) have been out of production for some time and they are the ones they will make for us if we take 10 pairs.
The steer axle benefits the most from these balancers, IMHO.
so, again to clarify:
The drive axle and the tag axle appear to use the same balancers which is a disk shape and is still available.
The steer axle, which is a cup shape can be produced for us if we purchase 10 pairs.
So far I have 3 confirmed

Peter:
One question, how thick are these? The reason I'm asking is that I run steelies all the way around with SS wheel covers. The covers fit over a threaded stud extender that threads onto the last remaining threads of the wheel studs protruding from the wheel nut. If I add too much thickness I won't be able to mount my SS wheel covers.

I just measured my 16" set (awaiting installation) and the mounting plate (both front and rear) is 1mm thick.

Tony,
Interesting way to mount wheel covers, I have never seen that concept.
My problem with wheel covers has always been the weights mounted on the rim preventing me from perfectly centering the wheel covers, which adds just another factor of being out of balance.
Thanks for posting the thickness, Martin.
Still only 4 confirmed. Don't miss the last opportunity to get the fronts.
My cost will be passed on to you plus shipping to your place. If I have to order 10 pairs with only half confirmed I will ebay the rest at a much higher price.

Talk to the rep and confirmed order of 10 pairs. Delivery before christmas, cost $189.- plus Tax ( I live in Texas, this is not my business, so i have to pay sales tax) and shipping to your destination. No they don't want to ship them individually, they all have to come to my place.
No money needed until 1 week before delivery. I will contact you and post it here.

And check this: The Company Rep wants to deliver them personally to my house, because he wants an Airstream and wants to see my collection. That will save us the freight from the factory to my house
Oh, his residence is somewhere outside of Austin, so i am sure that factors in as well.,,but the first part sounds so much better
OK, guys, 3 sets to go.......
Don't be left behind with shaky front wheels on the way to our big Motorhome Rally on the top of Georgia in the spring
