What exhaust headers - '79 Excella 454 chevy??

I want to upgrde the cast iron exhaust headers on my 454 engine and looking for some advice. I fully understand the need for them - reduced heat and better exhaust gas flow. As there are no sellers in Northern Ireland I'll have to buy from a US supplier over the internet and my main problem is I don't know what headers will fit my existing exhaust system? I don't (can't afford) to buy headers that won't fit and end up having to send them back. Ideally the headers I need will be the same size as the cast iron nes i wnat to remove.

Also can snyone reccomend any benefits in headers that have a thermal coating?

Thx in advance

I would suggest you contact Summit Racing or Jegs as they will have the widest selection and should be able to contact the manufacture to check on clearance in a MoHo. Most headers will be set up for dual exhaust so you may have to fabricate to connect to you exhaust system.

Would suggest an internet search for Doug's, Jardine, Sanderson and Patriot as these companies have manufactured headers specifically for motorhomes. Summit, Jeg's and Speedway headers are generic muscle car with some pickup applications. However, Speedway does offer header kit components that may very well be cheaper to buy and ship if there is a competent exhaust fabricator in Ireland. There is a fairly large hot rod contingent in England posting on the Jalopy Journal that could point you in the right direction.

I have replaced my headers with the Banks power system and the exhaust pipes and muffler later on to manage the financial aspect. Am very happy with them results. However co$t may be an issue for you. The Banks power are specifically designed for the 454, you can view the install procedure there as the manual is available online.
