Don't know any internal specifics, only that I have had one trucks with both transmissions, and had no problems (I did have to replace a torque converter on a 150 van E4OD at 100,000 miles, though).

One thing I did learn on the recent tranny rebuild on the 345, the TH-400 GM tranny series has torque converters ranging from 9" to 13" in diameter. I would do some research on the Ford sites to discover the differences in the internals of the A4OD installed in the 150 series and an A4OD installed in a 450 series. I'm fairly certain that there are multiple "versions" of the A4OD.

The above is just an uneducated opinion -- I have never torn one down myself.

This is a Ford site I frequent. -- http://www.thedieselstop.com/
