Tranny Shift

My 1990 33 LY seems to be shifting incorrectly.

It was shifting okay until the other day when I took it to town to have it compounded and waxed.

I have been underneath the doghouse working on belts. Maybe I loosened something up inadvertantly.

It seems that the engine is revving up way to high before the transmission shifts to the next gear.

Is it possible that I have a vacuum leak somewhere?
What tells the transmission to shift in a timely manner?

I am assuming that the Tranny shifts when a ceratin level of vacuum is reached by the intake.

What tranny? Some are electronic, some vacuum/governor.

Depending on the exact model there is a vacuum line that runs from the intake manifold to a valve on the side of the transmission. If the line is cracked or has come off you will have wonky shifting. I would start there. I have replaced most of my vacuum lines, but I have fewer lines than you do.

Umm, only description I can give at this time is, Chevrolet, no overdrive, 454 engine and 1990 model.

The only outside signal going to my tranny is (I think) an electric signal originating from a full throttle situation which precipitates a downshift. The Xeppelin has a fairly harsh shift it it shifts under a load.

I know Fred (1985AIR345) had the same type of symptom. He had a bad vacuum line and he had the same type of problem.
