Throttle Body re manufactured part numbers

I am trying to confirm the correct Autoline part number to install on my 454 equipped 350LE.
The existing TB has the Rochester 2 injector number 17090015 stamped on the body. According to this site
http://www.throttlebodyinjection.com/TBI_Catalog.htm
this is the correct Rochester number for the year and engine.
Now it gets confusing. The most popular and economical re-manufacturer of these TB's is Autoline but these folks (as fat as I can ascertain at least) do not publish a cross-reference to the Rochester part numbers. Autozone and others quote an Autoline part number F19029 which arrived with the Rochester part number 17091045 stamped on the body. This unit, however, whilst looking identical has a different throttle positioning sensor connection. Further research indicates that the correct Autoline part number is F19026. See below
http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/c...ttle+body,6472
I am reluctant to go through the "suck-it-and-see" routine again before one of my learned fellow AS owners can(through expertise and experience) can verify that Autoline's F19026 is the correct replacement?

Your best bet is to get yours rebuilt (By a GOOD rebuild shop) that way you know you have the right parts and vacuum line hookup and it will be tuned for your motor.

Chris - I spent some time researching and then rebuilding my 1990 220. Why are you replacing it? I can tell you that the parts and gaskets are very specific to certain Chevy trucks. To the best of my knowledge the rebuild parts are all available. Cody the car guy is your friend (again).

Seems to be correct

Nick/WayneG..thanks for your replies. I went ahead and ordered the F19026 from Rockauto which just arrived and looks to be a perfect re-fit. why not rebuild?
1. As you know, I rebuilt the 454 this past year but had trouble re-tuning the engine. Part of the problem was focused on the injector delivery being erratic, worn IAC and TPS sensors.
2. I was unable to locate a TBI repair outfit in and around Austin or San Antonio and a shop in Dallas quoted "around $200 plus parts. I viewed a U-Tube video and decided that I really was not prepared to over-haul the TBI myself.
3. Finally and related to the self-repair question was that parts including new IAC ($52), TBS ($50), injectors (around $100 for the pair), gasket kit ($32) added up to over $200 plus. The re-manufactured F19026 from Rockauto cost $262 ($387 less $125 core return credit) including gaskets.
Yes, I will need to have the TBI re-learn but at least I will start from a rebuilt TBI.
I'm also rebuilding the air intake and will post pics when completed. Thanks again chaps..Pip! Pip!

Be very sure your gasket ant throttle body channels are a perfect match.
My 84 is different because it was a Qjet on a stock manifold. I installed a 90's TBI from a kit.
The original adapter plate, throttle body and gasket in the kit were not matched correctly, so the channels in the TBI and gasket had gaps as shown in this photo overlay.
The kit maker had sent me a adapter and gasket for a 50mm throttle body but they sent me a 42mm throttle body bored out to 46 mm. I made my own plate and all is working fine now.
This link has more details of the install: http://theouterlimits.ws/projects/ai...tleBodyProblem

Chris - hopefully either you or Brad have got my Bluetooth OBD1 gizmo. It might help you in your quest. You’re welcome to hold onto it. Ideally, I’d like it back by end March. All best Nick

Nick, the gizmo is still in my hands. We were waiting to ship with the front air bags.

I can ship it to Chris if you'd like.

Brad

Life is Good!

Nick and Brad,
Thanks for the offer of the OBD1 Gizmo but not sure if I need it?
Just fitted the remanufactured TBI and it went in perfectly. As I understand the next phase is to put some miles on the highway so as to program the new TBI to the EPROM. So I'm not sure why I would need the OBD1 Gizmo?
BTW.The PO had fitted a CB radio which required moving the computer module. The OBD socket was just tucked-up under the dash with its bracket and associated wiring moved to the other side of the steering column and "jury-rigging" connecting power to both the CB unit and antenna amplifier. A real mess.
Also rebuilt the air intake piping..pics to follow.
Merry Christmas to you'all and yours!
Chris

Autoline F19026 perfect fit

Wayne,
Just fitted the Autoline F19026 TBI to the intake manifold and gasket and throttle body channels were a perfect match. Just had to change-over the throttle linkage assembly otherwise vacuum ports and connectors were identical.

Hi Chris,

I had a vague recollection that you were going to borrow the bluetooth device to record your OBD1 diagnostic reports, but I might have false memories. I haven't had a go with it yet, but Brad has had a look at it and got it working.
I think you should be able to hook it up and set it to record your diagnostics while you are going down the road. Have a look at the following example videos:

http://www.tunerpro.net/links.htm

If you would like to borrow it, just contact Brad and arrange shipping. I won't be using it until early April at the earliest. If not, I'll talk to Brad about shipping it back to the UK.

all the best
Nick

Obd1

Nick/Brad
I seem to think that the dongle you guys are referring to is a Bluetooth equipped OBD1 connector that eliminates the hard-wired dongle that I already have (see pic below). In the next few weeks, I'll install the software that came with it from OBD Diagnostics on my laptop and then download TunerPro. So thanks anyway.
Also attached are pics of the revamped air-intake which replaced the old pan and hose set-up.
Road test next week to tune the TBI.
Merry Christmas to you'all
chris

Yes, the Bluetooth connector does the same thing as your lead. I’ll be very interested to hear how you get on with that and any adjustments you make. I’m also interested in the air intake. Was that driven by any specific need or just best practice? What was involved in the install?

Merry Christmas from Blighty

Nick

Air intake rebuild

Nick..I'll certainly let you know how useful is the OBD1/TunerPro program works-out. When the engine was removed, the original ducting hose connecting the front intake to the pancake air-filter was already in poor shape. After the rebuild, I decided to just fit an updated pancake air filter on top of the TBI and avoid rebuilding the air intake ducting.
This caused two problems, increased noise in the cab but perhaps, more importantly, the TBI did not like the arrangement where it was pulling air from the hot-engine dog house. so when replacing the TBI I decided to go back to the original air intake arrangement but updated with a Spectre alloy plenum and cone air filter out in front. The result is impressive. more after next weeks roadtest. The install was fairly easy using the flexible alloy ducting and 4-inch alloy tubing. If you're interested, I can provide the part numbers ordered through JEGS and Summit.
Cheers
chris

This is the one I bought. It appears to be the same as Chris's.

Does this plenum replace the shroud (shown below) that goes between the throttle body and air cleaner?

I guess you must eliminate or change the vacuum hoses and PCV vent?

Wayne,

I plan on attaching my PCV hose similar to how it was done in this picture. I plan on doing a much nicer job of installing it however

The only vacuum line I will have on my engine will go from the intake manifold port to a vacuum reservoir. From there it will feed the heater/ac system vacuum servos and the vacuum gauge located in the instrument cluster.

One thing to keep in mind, you want the dash vacuum gauge to have fast response, so you dont want that behind the vacuum reservoir. On my 84 there is a reservoir with a check valve on the firewall that feeds all the heat/ac stuff, the dash vacuum gauge is on the engine side of the plumbing

Yeah, you're right. I forgot about the Tee in the line from the manifold to the vacuum reservoir. The reservoir has a check valve built in so the gauge gets the full effect of the manifold port.
