tag axle drum and hub assembly

We are looking for one, Had the tag axle serviced and everything lubed 3400 miles ago in September, came back from a 760 mile trip and 2 blocks from the storage shop, just pulling away from the offramp the right rear tag wheel FELL OFF!! Luckily we were going very slow and did not sustain body work damage but we can not find a replacement hub and drum assembly. It is a "Reliable" 10 lug HD1210. Anyone have any leads on where to find one? Thanks for any help!!

We are the Henschen distributor for the tag axle parts.

We were especially pressed for time because of the California Streamers Rally this weekend at Pyramid Lake. It pays to have 2 345s. We grabbed a drum off of #2 and we are currently parked among our aluminum loving friends here in Pyramid Lake RV park. Life is good. But we still need to find a drum to replace the one we pirated.

I think the drums can be had at a commercial brake shop. I had mine turned at AC Brake here in Lousiville, they had the shoes and magnets too. My drums could be turned but they had those as well.

Thanks Steve, we will try that. Ron spent last Thursday running around all kinds of truck part stores (with hub in hand!!) with no results. Now that the rally is behind us we need to get AS #2 back up and rolling!

You definitely don't want to have to try and keep up with AS #3 like we do (as of yesterday that is).

Details to follow in the Argosy Motorhome section

I lost one of the bearing on my tag axle, I got a new drum/bearing from Inland RV.
I've gotten where I check there (Inland) first.

A tag axle is not that difficult to install.

The hardest part is to properly reinstall the air bag system.

A tag axle must be special ordered.

You can proceed without it on one side, but I would suggest you keep your speed down to 50 mph.

You can head back home, and have the axle shipped to you. Or, you can have the axle shipped to a dealer, that is familiar with tag axles, and have them replace it.

Most importantly, you should report the loss to your insurance company, since you were in a collision.

Your bare tag axle will ship 12-21-2007, direct from Henschen, to you in Missouri.
