Steering coupler - between gearbox & column

I'm still gathering the rest of the parts to finish the front suspension and steering rebuild on the Argosy. I have pretty much everything but can't seem to locate a source for the coupler disk (not sure what else to call it) that goes between the power steering gearbox and the steering column.

If any one knows of a source or can provide a part number that sure would help.

I've check with Mill Supply and they don't show it in their catalog.

Thanks,

Brad

Maybe check out LMCTRUCK.COM and see if a pickup or suburban one would fit.

Thanks for the link!

I'm betting 34-0746 is probably the right one as it's listed for 73-76 vehicles. Of course it is also $10 more than the later part

Worst case is I order it and it doesn't fit and I have to return it. At least now I have something to try

Thanks!

Brad

Our 310 got stuck in a garage in Wilmington, DE, at the end of our last trip because they found that our "rag joint", aka steering coupler, was dangerously worn out and they had a hard time finding a replacement. Not sure where they finally got one, but Melody Ranch suggested this vendor: Steering Shaft Components From Classic Performance Products and I sent it to the garage.

Wow, do they ever carry a lot of products!

I'll try and call them before the end of the week and see if they can pin point the right one for a P30/P32 chassis.

Thanks for the link

Google Nally GMC Buick in Brunswick GA they have a pretty good P30 section, and do not forget to browse Summit Racing for rag joints.
Best of luck.

Thanks the tip.

I checked their parts website and unfortunately they only let you go back to 1982. I think there was a change to the steering somewhere around 1980 so no luck there.

Thanks,

Brad

I just did and they do list two for a 74 P30. When I get home I'll have to measure and see if either of them will fit.

I have high hopes

I have been meaning to follow up on Waipio Rim's suggestion but have been to busy dismantling the 345. I'll be glad when that thing is finished off.

Thanks!

Brad

I was amazed at the difference in handling the new joint made. No more constantly correcting with the steering wheel.

Interesting. We have this constantly correcting issue on our 310. When we first got it in 2007 I rebuilt most of the front suspension but left a few of the original components because they seemed to be ok, one of which was the coupler. Now you have me thinking I need to replace the coupler on the 310 as well as on the Argosy.

Guess I'll be buying two couplers.

Thanks for the tip!

Brad
