RV Suspension Mechanic in Nashville Area???

Having a hard time locating someone who can replace the rear airbags on my friend's '88 345. It's got a substantial leak on the driver's side. Any suggestions in the Nashville, TN area? I've tried the all the usual ones.

Thanks for your time.

Have you tried a local Freightliner dealer? I believe the 345 has a Freightliner Chassis.

Thanks, but I believe it is a Chevy P-30 chassis. I'll see if there are any Chevy truck repair centers around.

Airstream used the P30 Chevy chassis until 1989 when the 370 was introduced using a Gillig chassis. I would suggest looking for a shop that works on large trucks to have the rear airbags replaced. Truck shops are experienced in air suspension systems and the shop is physically large enough to accommodate the size of a 345. It can be a challenge to find a shop willing to work on large Motorhomes. Just mentioning "motorhome" when scheduling the appointment scares many of them off. When Ive used local shops in the past and they inquire about the make, model, and size of my 310TD I always respond first by saying it's a Chevy P30 chassis. This seems to open the door a bit and then further into the conversation I will mention that it has an Airstream Motorhome "body" on the Chevy chassis. "Usually" at that point they have already imprinted the "Chevy" chassis in their minds and you're good to go. I think that what scares them off the most is the ability to give an accurate estimate on the work since all Motorhome brands are a bit different in how the body is married to the chassis. They don't want to ge burned by giving too low of an estimate. So anyway, tell your friend to try shops that work on large trucks....semi trucks, bus, etc.

I know a guy in New York state that would just love to replace those airbags, especially since he's almost finished his latest Airstream motorhome project.........

Cheers

Might try Wendel at Charlie Tatum Campers in Lebanon, TN. He has a lot of experience on all models of RVs. Their number is 615-444-3435
