Our 1984 310 got stuck in a shop instead of storage at the end of our last trip. Wanted the brakes because they were pulling to the right. They said that the "rag joint" connecting the steering column to the steering box is dangerously worn out, and were not able to find a new one before we had to fly home. Apparently the column and joint are NLA, and the one substitute joint they ordered (looked like a mini driveshaft, two piece with a splined joint in the middle) was two inches too long. Anybody have a source?
Try CPP. Look this over...they are a source of the info you wand....maybe even the Rag Joint/http://www.classicperform.com/tech_articles/ColumnInstructionguide.pdf
