AC H Valve

Bob..thanks for your follow-up. In reading my much abused and used Chevy P30 service guide, I cam across a reference to this "heater blending" problem and there, pictured is the H valve in we've been talking about. It's from Acme Radiator and is part number 4100173. A check of their web site however fails to list this item probably because it is no longer available. I have placed a call to Acme trying to find-out. The beauty of this valve is that it apparently inserts into the existing GM/Airstream pipe-work. I've copied the page as a PDF for your reading pleasure. I'll let you know if i can source one! Thanks again.Chris

Chris,

I believe this is the heater control valve that you're looking for. I bought one for my Argosy but have not as yet install it.

Hope this helps.

Brad

Thanks Chris and Brad. That seems to be a worthwhile and simple modification.

Looks as if that is a good price at Amazon. Using the Four Seasons part number it seems that this valve was fitted to many 1970's Dodge trucks with 318, 360 and 400 ci engines and also to Plymouth Traildusters..... although I cannot for the life of me remember what a Trailduster was!

That's a pretty little truck with that Plymouth grille. I cannot recall seeing them, but I might have to look out for one.

Bob and all..
Finally was able to reach "Richard" at Acme Air Parts. here is the link
Motorhome Dash AC and Heat systems
He explained that part 4100173 was no longer available and with two other available parts could be inserted into the existing MH heater control. These are 4100265 by-pass fitting and 570-215 cable control water valve. Both are available and listed on the Acme web site above.
Richard went on to explain that there was no easy way to get at the existing valve (WHAT A SURPRISE!!) and suggested only replacing the valve if indeed hot air flow was detected when cool was selected and the aircon engaged. so as I'm still not able to test the recently replaced aircon circuit, I'll wait as replacing the valve where it is snugly located in the passenger side cowl means skinned knuckles and a fairly salty vocabulary! anyway..thanks for your help on this..I'll let you know what happens. In the meantime, thought you might like a preview of the next generation Airstream Motorhome!
