I just check with PPL today to order Carb kit/plugs/etc., including the integral fuel pump filter. Was told that neither the filter NOR the sealing gaskets were available.
Bummer.
The only option for new gas filtration is a new pump assembly (which they would gladly supply) or an external filter.
Guess which way I plan to go!

Dennis,
I just today, ordered a supposidly unavailable part for my old Onan.
ppl said it was not used anymore. Bridgeway has the part in stock
Onan is now part of Cummins.
Cummins Bridgeway: 248-573-1600 (Michigan)
You can also find them on the web
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the info -- it's great that people help each other here in the forum.
I went with PPL for the tuneup kit simply 'cause they were handy.
(Small consolation for having to put up with Houston traffic.)
I plan to get intimate with the 6.5 NHP and become one with the carburator this weekend. I think I'll try to clean the existing filter and add a glass in-line filter upstream. A glass filter there would also give a good indication as to what's going to the 454.
I keep inventing things to do prior to starting to polish the skin, but I really do need to get the surging problem under control prior to taking it out again.

After investing almost a Ben Franklin for a carburator kit and about 12 hours on the Onan Carb rebuild (time overage attributed to typical {insert word} - ups soley caused by the writer), I only got about 5 working hours out of the generator.
To troubleshoot, I tried an alternative gasoline source, and it still does the same thing. Runs and surges when started, and dies under a load.
PPL has a new carb for about 140 bucks -- in hindsight I should have gone that route to start with, as others had advised of the poor rebuild record of the Nikki carbs on the Onans.
Does anyone know where I can find a bumper sticker for my junker daily driver that states "All my money goes to my Airstream"?

Thats a great place to put it. You get lots of enjoyment out of it, feel good about it and yourself, except ....
pouring time and money in an old onan.
Yup, broken record, I know, but there two distinct 'happy' days in my life. The first was when I replaced the onan in my previous motorhome, the second when I replaced the onan with a Honda generator in my Airstream.
Life has been good.
