Newbie Needs Help - 86 345 MoHo Fuel Gauge Not Functioning Properly

Fuel gauge stuck on full, 2 pink wires @ sender lead on fuel gauge. Open circuit to ground. Infinity reading. What is the wiring diagram for the gauge? Can I acccess the sending unit thru an access port? Do I have to drop the tank? SOMEONE HAS been here before, if I knew how to navigate the sight I know the info is somewhere?

Please help ....Thanx gizzyguy

Welcome aboard.. there are some folks who can give specifics.. but, this is just like any fuel tank gauge.. nothing 'special'.

What previous work was attempted on the gauge?

Peace and Blessings..

I had a problem with the sender which was blocked . Drop the tank is not easy job... I made an access just above, through the floor ( half of an hour! ) The sender wasn't in the right position since I bought Excella

What Bigbidule suggests is by far the fasted way to get access to the fuel tank sender.

Should you decide to cut an access hole measure twice and cut once

I haven't had the opportunity or need to work on a GM fuel gauge so I'm not sure just how they are wired. Martin has been working on his recently so hopefully he will chime in with some suggestions on what to look for.

Good luck!
