Question Need PHX (or Tucson) engine/tranny shop referral for 81 turbo diesel

I noticed fluid seeping from the rear tranny seals on our 81 280 TD and I was thinking if I get that fixed I might as well get the gear vendor OD installed at the same time. I'm also thinking about getting the radiator serviced, swapping in an AZ summer friendly thermostat and maybe adding an electric fan. Believe I saw another post that confirmed my suspicions that this motor has no fan (or am I in error?). So anybody have experience with a reliable shop (or shops) in Phoenix and Tucson?

Thanks,
Ken

Ken,

Not being a diesel motorhome owner I can't say for sure but I would be surprised if there wasn't a fan/fan clutch combo on the engine side of the radiator. If there isn't one installed it makes me wonder how these engines stay cool when sitting in traffic.

Needless to say I'm curious to see the answer to your question!

Yes, Armstrong Automotive. They are located at 20th St. and Bell Rd near Cave Creek Rd and the 101. The owner, Quinn, is honest and his mechanics are the best. Always does great work.

Another is 25th Street Automotive. They are at 25th Street and Indian School. Bill, the owner, is honest and right up front. His shop is spotless and all of his mechanics are ASE certified. Not sure if they'll work on you rig though but I don't see why not.

The guy who services Bess in Phoenix is Paul Buckman at Paul's Arizona Service; very
good people. On NW Grand, 623.934.2963. Say hello to the old codger for me.

Oasis RV is a great choice. They've done lots of quality work for me and corrected one issue I had above and beyond what they could have done. Tell Joe I said, Hi.

Yes Oasis RV is doing some Airstream repairs (gray tank, propane regulator, etc...). And I'll say hi to Joe. We will go elsewhere for the radiator and transmission.

Chuck's Speed and RV Center

Has anybody worked with these guys? Gear Vendors pointed me to them as the local dealer. They look pretty full service.
