marker lights dont work

my upper marker lights dont work, the lower lights work. checked fuses, no blown fuses. i was going to open the dash today and take a look . was such a miserable day i didnt bother . was also going to look in the service manual but that piece of trash hasnt been a lot of help in the past , but i will look before i start and see if it sheds some light on the cable routing. maybe.has anyone had this problem ,im thinking a broken wire but where do i start???

if it was a donkey i would shot it and get it out of its misery.

Just a thought....

Check the bulbs. I'm not sure if they do this or not but if they are wired in "series" one bulb goes and the rest do too. Oscar

Nope, they are not wired in series.
Are both the front and rear out?
Wire color is red on mine.

Yet another mouse hole to look in.

One thing that is common to the top lights is the ICC blink switch. If it were open that would cause your problem. If you go under the dash that may be a good place to start.
Good Luck

thanks for the suggestions the icc blink was my first thought since it could affect the upper lights. i always thought the icc blink only blinked the rear lights??? dont know i dont use that switch. i replaced the icc blink with the aux cooler fan and it is hanging in the back of the dash. that will be my starting point .

Lightbulb

i finally found the problem . the icc switch was a good starting point but my switch has been replaced with a butt splice . i took my meter and checkeD for voltage and i have 12 volts at the splice which would mean the problem is in the light string. a friend of mine is a rv mechanic he suggested i inject 12 volts and forget the meter. i thought this is a little crazy to put down my fluke and go to stone age repair techniques. i follow his instructions and got all the way from out side to inside the dash. to more precise to the butt connector for the icc switch . i injected 12volts and the lites lit up . the only thing from the lite switch is a brown wire a blue in line splice that was installed at the factory and 12 inches of wire. this is a good one i could see 12volts on the in line splice when i turned the lite switch on . and i could lite the upper lites when i injected 12volts. REPLACED THE IN-LINE SPLICE AND THAT FIXED THE PROBLEM. stone age repair techniques solved the problem . my $400 fluke was apparently picking up another ground loop.
thanks for the help you were within 12 inches of the problem. cant get any closed than that!!!!! HAD IT BEEN A SNAKE I WOULD HAVE BEEN BITTEN .

COME TO MYSTIC SPRINGS AND SEE
the squating lady in the cave COME out for A BREATH OF AIR..

ALSO I FOUND THAT AS YOU SUGGESTED THE ICC SWITCH BLINKS THE UPPER LITE STRING . MY SERVICE MANUAL SAYS ONLY THE REAR LIGHTS ARE BLINKED( WRONG ALL UPPER LITES BLINK )
