Ford 250 4x4 diesel mileage

I may buy a 2011 Ford 250 diesel 4x4 and wonder if anyone has an idea of the mileage I will get per gallon of fuel? When I test drove it yesterday, at 60 mph on a flat road, the computer was showing 19.5 mpg which seems high. I will be pulling a 7,000 lb. 27 FB airstream. What will I really get (MPG) and is this new "Ford" engine better than the older ones not made by Ford?
Thanks

Between 10-12 towing is a realistic figure.

Take a look at the September '11 Consumer Reports comparison of the Ford, Chevy and Dodge turbodiesels. The test doesn't list the MPG of the Ford, which they are still conducting, but it gives an unbiased and expert comparison of the three in many other ways.

I'm currently towing my "new" 2008 Safari 27FB 550 miles home with a 2011 F 250 Lariat diesel 4x4. On my trip up to NJ to get her I averaged 22.5 mpg. Mostly flat to rolling interstate roads (I95 and Jersey Turnpike). I was traveling at 65 to 70 mph (speed limit). The return trip has been on I81 with up and down grades plus some driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I'm averaging 13.8 towing with the trailer. Towing I'm not going over 62 mph. The truck computer and hand mileage calculations are very close. Durability of the engine I can't speak to. Only 2550 miles on the truck. I do like the vehicle very much. Around town I average about 18 mpg with a combination of city streets and 2 lane country road driving.

Good luck with your decisions. I've been going through this process for a year. Bought the truck in May. Found the trailer a month ago on EBay. I've also been through the whole decision process on truck accessories. I have a BedRug which I like very much. I also got a Bakflip for the tonneau cover. I'm not as happy with it but am still getting used to it.
