Engine R&R Argosy MH

A little problem in the beginning.
This is a regular engine hoist no clearance for lift.
But with 120 mile round trip to town late in the afternoon on Friday I try to figure someway for it to work.

So this is what I came up with a little adjustment.
Now I have enough room to lift engine.

Engine install

Going back in a lot easier than removal . Learned a few things on the removal. Bought an engine hoist with an extra long boom made life a lot easier . Also removed the oil drain plug only 1/2" but every little bit helps.
No jacking motor home up with new hoist.
I did engine and transmission together.

Ok. Now the fun stuff I get to put everything back on. Spent the rest of the afternoon trying to line up the motor mount holes.

Good Job Joe!!!!!
Looks like a new motor going in, unless you were just bored and thought how much fun would it be to pull the motor out of my M/H today....
Tell us the story?

Hi, you need to pull that thing back out again. Anything removed from a motor vehicle needs to be cleaned and painted before re-installing it. Looks like you got the torque converter, timing cover, and valve covers. But we need some Chevy/Chinese red paint on all cast iron parts.

Well I would pull it out to paint it that great chevy orange but it is snowing today!
The motor is out of my 1988 windjammer a 454 with less 40k .The transmission is original from the Argosy a 475 . Had it rebuilt.
I am going to put new gaskets on the intake manifold so I guess I could paint it chevy orange .
Thanks for the replies this has been a long process and I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel or is that under the mh.
Jo
