Question cavitation in Isuzu engines

Does anyone know if cavitation (pitting of the piston interior wall) occurs in Isuzu engines if coolant additive is not used. Cavitation is a known problem in the 7.3 IDI engine in my Ford truck, which is why I ask.
Thanks for any info.

Are you specifically talking about the Duramax?

Cavitation is an issue in ALL diesel engines. Best cure is prevention. Change your coolant every year if possible, or at least every 2 years, minimum. There are additives, but regular coolant changes are the best.

One friend of mine had to replace his John Deere tractor engine block, because of cavitation. Another a piston liner in his '89 Ford 7.3L.

Cooloant additive

I paid a bunch to replace the non turbo Isuzu engine, in my 1981 Excella, with a new Isuzu turbo Diesel so when it was finished I did everything possible to upgrade the cooling system. A Super Cool radiator, high quality electric pusher fan, Shellzone coolant and Redline Water Wetter additive. The claim by surfactant additive manufacturers is that they eliminate cavitation.
