Bilstein Source ?

I want to put Bilstein shocks and stabilzer on my 84 310 MH. I live in a small town (<2000) and am 50 miles from any city of good size.

My local guy can't get Bilstein's so I'm interested in a good mail-order/internet source.

Any ideas?

shox.com

also, a google search will give you 50 or so more sources, perhaps even close to you.

I got lots of hits, but I was looking for a source with which folks here had good experiences.

I checked shox.com but their online configurator didn't list Chevy P30. Have you bought motorhome stuff from them before?

Others have used that site ,but I bought mine off EBAY, they were take offs from new Motorhome chassis. I got the steering stabilizer and the front shocks. Very reasonable and like brand new in every way. Not sure if they are still avaiable there, but its worth a look. Also if you go to the Bilstein web site you can get the model no. for the P30 fitment.

eshocks.com. $375 for all 5, free shipping over $200. I have used them several times and always been satisfied.

I bought mine from Camping World with the installation. I have 1990 345 and they had to weld on new mounts. This was a requirement from Bilstein and in the install instructions. Evidently the old mount was not strong enough.

I think (hope) that is required only on the rear shocks

Here' what the vendor I bought from said:

Motorhome Chassis. On pre-1989 P30 Chassis, upper shock mounts must be reinforced with aftermarket shocks.

But, this notation was only on the rear shocks, not the fronts.

Are mods required on both?

BTW I purchased from BilsteinShocks.com ( which is actually Turner Motor Sports). $247 for 2 fronts shocks, stabilizer, shipping.

Guy99:

If you still have the original shocks you may well have "helper springs" around the shock.

The "helpers" will not fit on the Bilsteins......I did not reinstall the "helper" springs, and do not feel as if I am losing anything. I could depress the "springs" by hand, so they did not really add much to the weight handling.

Most of the problem I had was compressing the shock to "hit the holes". I documented the installation on a previous thread. I ended up using a nylon rope with several half hitches to control the shock extension.

It has been a number of years and it was only on the rear shocks.

Bilstein Source

If you can't find them anywhere else, try Colaw Rv. I called them today looking for a limit switch for my Suburban furnace. They called me right back, had it in stock and it is on the way.

Good luck,

Bilstein's are in, today we'll start a 1200 mile round trip and check them out.

Thanks for all the information and help.
