Any idea of what adapters are included in the 'current' J-9517-E kit (described as a lower ball joint remover & installer kit for GM/Isuzu)?

The only number I can make out is the -17 which I've not seen a reference to that number in the factory service manuals for the P-30.

If you haven't already you could try contacting the seller and ask him to provide you with a numerical listing of the adapters. From what I can see this same press (-10) seems to have been used on a million different GM vehicles.

My best guess is the -E in the part number probably designates which series of vehicles the kit will work with.

Not much help am I!

Brad

Paranoia...I had a distinct "Klonk" on the right side, when I was applying the brakes. Beside the steering play many people complain about, there is a sense rutting of the tire.
The way to check them is very fast and easy.
Jack vehicle up 1 side at a time. Take a long crow bar to pry the tire up and down (not sideways, since that is normal wheel bearing play). check if there is any up and down movement within the lower ball joint. Tolerance is minimal, so if you see any get rid of them.
The upper don't get that same kind of abuse, but i replaced mine anyway...you know ..whilst.
Since I have hardly any play in the steering, the ball joint made a huge improvement. The passenger side one was shut the drivers side very loose. I even took the PO for a ride and he could not believe the difference.
