ASLY 2000 1999P32 Exhaust header leak

Hi All

Have an exhaust leak RHS on the 454. Does anyone have part # for copper gasket replacement. Also is it necessary the studs be replaced at same time.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Regards,
Steve

Exhaust Header Update

Found both OEM headers were cracked and replaced both with Banks kit,new bolts, did not need a gasket. Runs nice n quiet.

Glad you got it fixed. That is why my dad put on the banks system years ago...manifolds kept cracking and leaking. I have a small leak on the right side right now. Hopefully I can tighten the header with my rusty studs and nuts!

Sorry I didn't see you posting sooner. The folks that ride in my 345 are amazed that the engine is between the 2 of us, Banks system is that quiet. Even at that sewer pipe sized exhaust, it's not that objectionable. Have to admit, sometimes I wish it were a dual exhaust.....guess that's the 'gearhead' in me, huh?
Thanks, Derek

While I was at it, replaced plugs (they were original oem) wonder how it ran. Also new wires, Air bags were leaking got rid of them put in SS springs, bellcranks drag link tierod end and two tires and of course alignment Oh and shocks. She runs and handles real good. I think that YL can now drive it.

Getting rid of the bags was the best thing I could have done.

Steve, I also replaced my front airbags with the SS coilsprings and I'm very happy with the results. When I first got my LY I had the same problem with leaking manifolds, a common problem with the 454, and opted for the Banks system also, and have had no problems since. Looks like we've made alot of the same improvements for a better drive.

Yes, the better less tiring ride is important. Prior to changes, co-pilot was relegated to be navigator we will see on next trip (end Feb) if she wants to try sailing ASLY herself.

The front tire change was needed due to the misalignment when the one bag went flat. And being the maiden voyage for me, was oblivious to the problem that this caused.

Next project when we get back from FL will be to tackle the moisture ingress much like what Santart did previously when it gets a bit warmer here.

Have you or anyone else removed the windows? The answer I got was to remove the interior window trim, remove the rubber gasket under which there are the screws securing everything ???

I got the sample interior "wallpaper" from AS but it doesn't match what I have. Would love to post photos but am having probs with the "security missing" token so can't do much until that issue is resolved. Even tried by setting up an account under "s.chowa" same prob.

Steve,
Before we purchased ours, the owner just handed me the keys and said take it for a ride. It was a very windy day, I tried to get my wife to take a turn driving (I-75 near Detroit here in Michigan), exhaust noise, wind noise, rattling along with the play in the steering - she would have nothing to do with it. After making many of the improvements we've talked about , she now does almost all the driving. So...just a warning, it you get it driving too nice you might lose your driving privileges
