We have a 1998 airstream motorhome with 454 vortec eng. that consumes approx. one pint of antifreeze per 150 miles, have had it pressure tested twice and fassed the test okay, changed out the rad. cap twice, still consuming antifreeze.
Any insights out there ??
If it has similiar features as the Classic Motorhomes there are radiator hoses going to a stand alone heater, that in our 1984 motorhome is located under the couch and also to the waterheater. These hoses could have leaks anywhere along its length including at the connections or shut off valves. The heater also has a small heater core that could have a leak.
A 98 will have the plastic intake, and plastic intake gaskets. It could be seeping into the "combustion chamber area" of the intake, and burning it.
If you perform this repair yourself (if that's what's leaking), there is a pot metal fitting that has a heater hose quick-connected to it. That fitting tends to snap off when you mess with it, so be careful.
