'86 345 heat/ac vac lines

I've been lurking on this forum for some time and for the most part other member's experiences have answered my questions. Now I have a reason to ask a legitimate question...........I pulled the dash panel on my 86 345 classic to do a radio upgrade,and in the process the four little vacumn lines that control the blower shutters came off the back of the heater control. The plastic or rubber block that attached them disintegrated. I can re-attach them with small sections of wiper hose.....If I had any idea which goes where. There are four hoses, red, white, blue, and black. The black obviously carries the vacumn. The catch is that there are seven appatures to attach to. Does any one have a schematic or experience with this system that could help me?

First, welcome to the forums and I am glad you are no longer lurking. Sorry to say that my set up is completely different. Plus the 280 came with no outside vents. I do plan on cutting some in soon but that is not going to help you. I would caution against using rubber hose on a vacuum line it may tend to suck in and close. You may be better off getting a plastic vacuum line. I imagine that NAAPA would have it.

Hi Dave and welcome. I had a similar problem. The back of my controller came apart. It was a Dodge part and I had to find one in a jujnk yard. After many attempts to figure out the scheme of the vac lines, I gave up and took it to my local mechanic. Cost was $35. Good luck on your problem. joe

Thanks for your replies guys....In the mean time a google search turned up a company named SCS frigette.They have the exact replacement part in stock. Better yet, their engineering dept. was kind enough to fax a copy of the vacuum and electrical diagram to me. Great service......Ploblem solved!!.I now have a schematic if anyone needs the info, I'll be lurking.

Welcome to the forum. Did you say they have replacement control heads? How much?

By the way, I've been to Olive Branch in my 345 twice. Have you ever visited American RV?

Steve.... American RV is just around the other side of Walmart from me.....I had to purchase an A/C cover there after a "low branch" incident.......

I didn't get a quote for the switch as they were able to resolve my problem by fax. I wrote the 800# on the pdf, call them they are good guys.

By the way, after reading your posts, I installed a Thorley header set along with muffler and pipes from Pinnacle Performance (Jardine). (Less than $800.00 for everything.)
Big performance boost, but my max torque band went up about 500 rpm. Any Ideas on how I can get better torque in the 2700-3000 rpm range(where I prefer to drive at 60-65 mph rather than almost 80) ?

I know Peter & Lynn Albano, the owners of American RV. They are good people.

Not sure on moving the band, I installed an H pipe and my sweet spot seems to be at about 2700 - 3000 (60 - 65 mph). If I get below 2700 on a hill I drop down to 55 - 50 mph in no time. But in the range it'll pull just about anything.

Steven...My torque peaks out at about 3300 rpm to high for the way I want to drive, if I hit a good hill at 75+ it will pull right over, but at 65- I'll be going about 45 over the top. Thats pulling my Ford Bronco II loaded with gear. I'm looking into a MSD ignition with adjustable timing as a next project.

We've been touring New Mexico for the last month. Just came thru Amarillo Texas, and Palo Duro Canyon (We recomend that destination highly) on our way thru the Dallas area. Leaving Texas Sunday headed back home to Mississippi. Going to Michigan ( Traverse Bay Area) for the summer in July. Working on up-grades as I go. Could do more but for the cost of fuel.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the diagram above, it helped me get the vacuum lines reconnected correctly.

The blower for the dash A/C is not working on the 1985 325 on a P-30 Chassis. I wanted to check with you guys really quick to see if any of you knew right of hand where the blower relay was located. It's probably right out in the open but I have my face crammed into the 5" gap between the dash panel and the dashboard and I don't see it. I found the wiring out of the switch but need to find the relay to check it as well. Thanks in advance,
