Smile 82 isuzu 310

Does anybody know what needs to be done to get injector pump primed after removing tank due to cleaning and fuel gauge sending unit repair?Does it have a mechanical or electric pump pulling fuel and where is it?.I have tank out and will be installing in a couple of days.
Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forums..

This is actually funny because Im really a trailer guy but I have been working on an 82 Isuzu for a month or so now.. People are going to laugh that Im now the expert..lol
I just changed the upper fuel filter and to reprime the system you will find a mechanical pump located under the injection pump area. It has a plastic cover over it but you simply unscrew the the pump handle and then pump alway.. you will see the pump begin to fill the glass chamber on the fuel filter in the right front wheel well.. I might actually have a picture of the pump.. Make sure to resecure the hand pump by tightening the pump shaft when your finished..

Try this pic. The arrow points to the cap that you unscrew and pump.

Good luck, Dan

If you double-click on Dan's pic and follow the line of the arrow to the upper right, you'll see a air bleeder nut and screw on the injector pump housing. Turn loose the screw and operate the pump until clear fuel flows. Tighten both the screw and pump and you'll be good to go.
