81 excella no power to rear AC unit

Recently purchased 81 MH 28'....Anybody have this problem. No 110v power the rear AC unit. The front unit has power. I tested rear unit with jumper cord and it works fine. There seems to be some kind of disconnect between the breaker panel and the rear unit. Any suggestions or comments greatly appreciated...

I'm not sure when Airstream started adding the rotary switches in the kitchen area but look for a rotary switch, possibly on the bottom of one of the overhead cabinets. My old 84 310 had a switch that you rotated to select microwave, front air, rear air or something else (can't remember what!).

The rear air works on the generator only. That's how they came from the factory anyway.
There are mods you can do to make it work from shore power but from the factory the rear air works off the generator.

Interesting. So by 1984 Airstream had added a rotary selector switch so you could run the rear air. I wonder how much that feature added to the cost

One of the most used modifications I've done to the 310 was to interrupt the circuit from the generator to the rear air conditioner. Added two receptacles, one tied to the genny AC circuit and one tied to a second shore power cord. Attached a heavy appliance cord to the line going up to the rear AC. So I can now plug the rear AC into the receptacle from the genny or the receptacle for the second shore power cord. I added a small two hole breaker box for added protection. Sounds a little complicated but it's real straight forward, just hard to explain in writing. We use it for second AC in the summer and added electric heat in the winter.
