10 lbs of boost is a bunch to loose. Get it back, soon.

AS motor home get together

I got the Silver Bullet all the way to Mesick, Mich. Over 1000 miles.

While in St. Louis I bought and installed stock injectors and fuel cam plate(have one in the tool box at home).

With the #8 cam plate I ran out of adjustment and still had too much smoke and high EGT.

With it back to 'stock' EGT don't get over 1200 degrees, and no smoke. Started opening up the fuel 'star wheel'. It's getting 12.5 mpg running at 65mph.

One of the guys here(Nick) said the injectors may be 'popping' twice at less than 300 psi which would cause the over fueling. Will get them checked when I get home.

Not so happy now.
Left this morning with hopes of getting to Terre Haute, IN. Stopped in Cedar Springs with diesel smell. Check and fuel return manifold is broken in two. Now I stay here till I can see if the Cummins parts house in Grand Rapides, Mich had the manifold Monday

Ok Mel, time for updates.

Gotta write the shakedown cruise journal.

We’ve read about a few repairs in route but how’s the overall? Pulling better up hills, actually able to pass stuff including a fuel stop noise level.

Looks like I haven't 'undated' since the broken return line.
Got a new fuel return manifold and was back on the road that next day by noon.
Overall got 10 mpg. Not want I hoped for but far better than I ever got out of the gas'r.
I did put the larger injectors back in when I got home and have run 450 miles. EGT is back up just above what I'd like. Been looking for a Cummins guy that can reset the P7100 pump from 13 to 15 degrees BTC. My understanding is that will cool the EGT and boost the power. I've noticed that pump timing of 14-15 btc is one of the things higher hp engine have..... Along with different pistons and head. I haven't decided on the #11 fuel cam plate or just play with the stock plate. Been having issues with my new knee, so been laying low and not wanting to be on my hands and knees to tinker with it.
Had an old leaking, moldy building I emptied and took down. Now I don't have room for all my junk in my 2000sf shop, so in the process of building a new building to help house my woodworking equipment...... 2 tractors, 2 lawn mowers, welding equipment, 2 cars, 1 truck, bicycle shop, and of course the 'Silver Bullet'......... Sure am glad I have never been able to talk myself into buying a boat.

You have any exhaust work done? Which turbo are you using? High egt could be from lack if flow. I will confess I am new to 12v but I have a few GM 6.5s TD that struggle with lots of issues.

Exhaust is 4" with no muffler. As in straight pipe.
After I got home I put the bigger injectors back w/the stock cam plate. EGT is back just over want it should be. Looking for someone more knowledgeable then me to bump the P-pump up to 15 degrees BTC. I see that the higher hp 12 valve Cummins are 14.5 degrees. Some people say this will cool the EGT and boost the hp. If I do the change myself I'll have to pull the motor. If my new knee will ever get better I'll do that being I can't find anyone to do it for me.
One thing I have learned about the 12v Cummins: What the data plate says is about all you can got out of one if you're wanting it to last. Put a bigger turbo on and get more boost, blow head gaskets; Bigger injectors, high EGT/smoke; change the cam plate, high EGT/smoke.
I've been told that I need a #10 or 11 cam plate. I let the hot rod'rs talk me into the #8 cam plate and that didn't work too well.

They left the straight fitting they used to hook there shop air to that did have a elbow with a bleed hole in it to keep the waste gate closed longer. The bleed hole works. Without it I lost 10 psi of boost

NOW the dash air blower's now working Start by checking to power to the blower motor.

Always pays to use quality components in the first place. Especially true on pressurized systems.
