Sorry, but I believe it is on the top of the tank and to access it you would have to drop the tank. There should be a wire that you may be able to see going to the tank top. If you can, ground it first near the tank, and have someone watch the gauge to see if it changes. If it does, the problem is most likely the sending unit. If not, there could be a break in the wire between the tank and the gauge.
BTW, the wiring behind the dash in the AS Motorhomes of that era is a real rat's nest. Grounding is often a problem if you are ever having electrical issues. On mine, the grounds were made by pop riveting the wire eyes to the frame with AL rivets. They were always going open. Replace them with real screws and star washers if you find any done like that.
