I posted this under the "Batteries, Univolts, Converters & Inverters", but this might be a better spot for it. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I took my rig to Camping World and when I got it back the battery light was on and it appeared that the alternator was not charging.
This was confirmed with a meter at the battery. With the coach off I have 12.7 volts on all batteries, with the engine running I have 12.4 volts at all batteries. When I plug in to shore power or run the generator I am well over 13 volts.
I have two questions - Does anyone know a good mechhanic that can work on a workhorse chassis near the San Fernaando Valley? And...Is there an inline fuse somewhere or something else that might be causing the problem?
Does your LY have an inverter/charger set-up or a standard converter? It sounds like you have an alternator problem, or possibly a battery isolator problem if you are getting 13+ with the gen or shore power and not when the engine is running.
I'm not really familiar with the Airstream set-up on the LY, but if it is similar to most late model MoHo's, I would start checking voltages at the alternator (source) and work inwards to the batteries.
Contact Workhorse for the location of an authorized service cemter close to you and do let us know how it turned out.

I found a dealership and took it there. It was the alternator and it's in warranty - imagine that....
I did put a meter to it and pretty much new it was the alternator. I was wondering more if there was a fuse or a breaker - basically desperate to find something other than the alternator.
I don't know what to do about CWorld. When I look at the work they did on my coach - it looks like good quality craftmanship. So I have no complaints from that stand point. Since it's in warranty maybe I'll figure no harm no foul.

Wow, MD,
You are the first person I have heard to openly admit that CW did quality work. All I ever hear is conplaints! Good for you that you found a CW with a good tech!
