Question 1988 classic 345 runs and stops

My 1988 345 has been parked for a couple years, I just started it runs great I get about a quarter mile and silence it stops, let it sit a few minutes, fires up goes again about a quarter mile and shuts down. I am confused could it be the fuel pump? the filter, the coil, I just don't know. Any help would be greatly appreciated

engine shutdown

Check to see if the exhaust system is stopped up, good luck!

I would first replace all the fuel filters.
Some q-jets also have a small inline filter at the carburator inlet line.
Next I would replace the ignition module inside the distributor (you can always keep the old one as a spare if it turns out to be good)

My 1985 345 did the same thing and it took forever to figure it out. My problem was fuel flow. Airstream started adding supplemental electrical fuel pumps on the 1986 and later models. That's a long way from the tank to the engine! The electric fuel pump is near the fuel tank in the rear. I would check the pump wires. The local Truck and RV shop added the fuel pump for me and solved the problem.

Also, you probably have TWO fuel filters. One on the engine and another in-line filter near the door steps under the coach. I'd replace both just to be sure.

And if you haven't already get rid of the old gas and get some fresh. Modern gas is only at it's best for 30 days.
