Introduction to forum

Hello,
I am new to the forum. I have gathered a wealth of information by reading your information in my attempt to restore my recently accured 1964 Overland. I am retired, live in South Florida and really look forward to restoring the AS.
I bought my AS off of eBay. I made the trip to Michigan (near Port Huron) to pick up my AS. It had been parked behind a ladies home in the country and used as storage since 1976.
It took me three full days work to get her out of the back yard and on the road. All wheels were flat and sank into the earth up to the axels, the hitch jack was missing and the earth was clay. What a job! I was by myself and without two great floor jacks it would still be in Michigan.
I sold my summer home in Au Sable Michigan and loaded the AS with 2,000 pounds of my wife's must haves and headed back to Lake Placid Florida with no problems.
While waiting for my home in MI. to sell I relaced the hitch jack, wheels, tires and brakes. I rewired the essential wiring, replaced the side markers and repacked the wheel bearing. Wanted to replace the shocks, but I could not match them up with anything locally available. I will be buying a set from Andy soon.
I know I have been long winded. Thanks to all for this super forum.

Wow Jim! Sounds like a good effort so far. Welcome to the Forums! I seem to recall seeing the shock number listed around here somewhere...

Welcome to the forums - and another welcome to the '64 Overlander club!

You'll find a treasure trove of information posted here - familiarize yourself with the Search button above. I looked briefly in my saved threads, but didn't see one on shocks. Here's a couple good links for similiar trailers though:

A 63 for me! (many good ideas for your new to you Trailer)

12v bulb numbers for 1964

1964 Overlander, San Leandro, California

A New Challenge-1963 Overlander rehab project

My '64 Overlander Adventure

The last link is mine - I don't know how useful it may be, but you may find it amusing at least . And while the next link is a for a trailer couple years older, Carlos has got some talent you've just got to see.

Introduction to Forum

Welcome Jim!

You will find lots of good information to help You out here on the forum. You might want to take off one of the shocks and take it around to some auto supply shops and see if they can help you out. I will be buying my new axle from Andy but he told me to try an auto supply store for the shocks. It could be that he has shocks for your model though....he is a good guy to work with for sure!
