Wiper Parts

Hello all I'm looking for sources for repair parts for the wiper systems
on a late 70's Airstream Classic, I have a 79 24 ft Excella P-30 chassis
the wiper motors are good but I am searching for info on the linkage
bushings and link studs that operate the wiper blade from the motor
I would like to know if anyone has rebuilt this linkage system and has
a source for parts. I will check back on this post to see if anyone can help
Thanks a bunch if you can help would love to hear from you

Bfrank

try these people, 230 Series Replacement Parts | AM Equipment | Manufacturer of Windshield Wiper Systems and Fractional Horsepower Motors | Wiper Motors, Window Lift Motors, Gearhead Motors | Fans and Motor Controls
I just had to replace the pivot head and drive arm on the drivers side, talk about needing dexterity. Will post pictures soon of the repair.

Alas, those photos must've succumbed to computer gremlins!

While you have the wiper motor out make sure to get the correct angle on the drive arm ! When in park mode my drivers side is not at its lowest point and stops about 10 degrees up from where it should! I can trick the wiper to stop at the bottom by turning the switch on and off really quickly. This is liveable as I don't want to take it out again unless necessary.

Another thing to look out for which I'm not sure how it happened, but when the wiper is on at normal speed the passenger side is on fast, and conversely when the drivers side is on fast the passenger side is normal. again entirely liveable.

Good luck. Using a couple of swivel sockets help.

I ended up with

ANCO wipers, Heavy Duty 52-20

they came from my Local auto parts dealer.
exactly the same as the units I replaced.

Listed in the Parts book as Airstream, Heavy Duty 20 inch Units

Got my new wiper blades

Thanks for the info on the wiper blade part number. I went to my O'Reilly Parts store, and they had them in stock, and whats better they cost under 18 buck for both of the complete wiper blades. They look to be Stainless Steel, and had to use the spacer supplied. These also come with the screw and new ny-lock nut. I have Stainless lock nuts, so did not use their nuts. The screws are SS.

Thanks for the info on the wiper blades. Mine were shot and I didn't know what I was going to do to find replacements. I saw the post that Anco 52-20 was the replacement. I stopped at the local Kragons/orielly store and asked if they had such a blade. She looked on the computer and said they should have two. It took her a while to find them in back. I installed them today and yes they are direct replacements for what was on the MH. Thanks everyone!

I was getting nervous about the wipers on my 1984 Holiday Rambler because I have to have a state inspection and the wipers are shot. After reading this thread, I went to O'Reilly's and ordered the 52-20. Got them today and they are an exact replacement for what is on there. Thanks you for the info. I thought I was going to have to special order them from some high dollar bus or truck company. They were $15.98 for the pair. Thanks again.
Dan

I need to paint my wiper arms. Anyone take them off? Do I need a puller?

I recently took mine off on my '82 in order to reposition them...they were too low. I took the nut and washer off, took the pressure off the spring (with hands only) and they lifted right off with a little tap on the stud with a hammer. Make sure you don't damage the threads. Try a little liquid wrench first if they won't budge, let it set awhile, then tap stud with hammer. Of course if you have a puller all the better, but I didn't need one.

Which spring? Does it matter? I did everything else you listed. Used a rubber mallett.
