What is the value of a 2004 Interstate?

We have some camping buddies that are hot for an Interstate.
It is extremely clean and well kept, but...
It has 144,000 miles and the asking price is $34,000.
Is this Interstate worth $34,000?

No one ever responded.
The owner won't come down on his price.
I think our friends are going to buy it anyway.

That seems a bit high, to me, for an 04, but they are the item to have these days, it seems.

Nice to see an owner can get that price.

I wish our friends could get it for $27,000, but the owner won't budge. If it were me I would lay the $27,000 cash on the table and if he still wouldn't move off his price I would put the money back in my back pack and walk. There will be other Interstates for sale- or Road Treks or Pleasure Ways or Leisure Vans...

Seems high to me too. Close to 150k in mileage where big things start to go wrong.

If the 04 has the diesel engine, mileage shouldn't be an issue for awhile.

Those are still going at several hundred thousand miles, we're told......also met a couple in Georgia years ago with a Sprinter Van that was pushing 300,000 miles on it. In the 270,000 miles or thereabouts.

Word is, take care of them and do all the regular maintenance, and they will go near forever.

We have turned over 150,000 miles on ours.

It does still seem high, but I haven't priced an older model so don't really know.

The seller must think he can get his asking price, from your friends or someone else.

It is a Mercedes diesel with Freightliner badging I think, but it should be the same as the Dodge Sprinter and the Mercedes diesel. The thing I hear about diesels is you have to use them. You can't just leave it parked in the yard.

Well, your friends will hopefully enjoy it and be glad to have it.

They apparently want an older model? Seem to be lots of complaints about this and that with the newer ones.

They're really beautiful, but offer some things your average, travlin' and campin' person doesn't necessarily need or want.....IMHO.

It's a budget thing. They are getting what they can afford.
If the would sell some other campers and some houses and some land...
They just don't want to let go of anything..,

They got it. It's a done deal. Money's been laid on the table. They're going to pick it up next Saturday.
I meant they won't let go of material things or earthly possessions.
Why have one property when you can have 3-4?
Why have one camper when you can have 3-5?
They have a conversion van, a Hi-Lo trailer, and a 34' Allegro Bus in addition to the Interstate...

I knew what you meant.

Most of us can't afford multiples of big ticket items. Do very well to have one house and an RV.

I hope they aren't too saturated with things to enjoy it.

Post pictures if you get a chance, would love to see it and what $34,000 for a 10 year old Interstate gets you.

Go to nada. They put it at 33000-34. They did fine. Besides if they never sell it they'll never lose money!

It is super clean like new. I will post picks in a couple of weeks. It will be that long till I see it. We're camping in a church parking lot for a marriage seminar next weekend while Jannie goes to get her new (to her) camper. Maybe we'll camp together the following weekend and I will plaster pictures all ip on some Airforums.
Billy lost his sight about 12 years ago and Jannie does all the driving. Billy has never "seen" the Allegro Bus even though he has camped in it many times. Billy has never "seen" my trailer, although he has eaten many meals in there (unaware that my cat was behind his head on the credenza) but he remembers what Airstream trailers look like. They had the conversion van and the Hi-Lo before he lost his sight. He will never get to see that beautiful Interstate.
It has a different layout. The kitchen is in the back, and there is a couch on both sides. I have seen one just like it on the Airstream classifieds.

The last time camping in the van- this is when she decided to get the Interstate-

It's like Goldilocks and the 3 Bears-
The van is too small.
The 34' Class A is too big.
The Interstate is just right.
No more sliding off the end of the bed to go to the bathroom at night.
No more 8 mpg, either.
They may still use the bus sometimes camping close to home because it is so big and roomy.

I checked that right away.
I also checked the value of the Allegro Bus so maybe they'll sell it.

It does run really smooth and quiet.
Murphy's law has already hit. Third day home and it wouldn't shift from park and the key was broken off in the ignition. A locksmith has the key fob to fix it and we have given her the name of a Mercedes mechanic.
I think the not shifting from park is something simple like not pressing the brake.
When Jannie was trying to open the compartment, I said, "Look for your CH751 key," just trying to be silly-
It was a CH751 key-
